Mrs. Subie grew up on a farm in Hartland, Vermont and her parents now reside in Quechee, Vermont. She attended the University of Vermont for 3 years and was an avid field hockey player & skier. With Olympic dreams in sight, Miss Subie found her way out west to pursue a talent in freestyle mogul competition in 1992. Eventually, a knee injury caused her to reflect on the future. Mrs. Subie finished her undergraduate degree at the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development. During her four jobs and mogul career on the side, she discovered Maria Montessori and was fascinated by her philosophy. She believed in her dream and decided to open a Montessori preschool. After completing a two-year Montessori program in California she fulfilled her dream and opened Little Miners in the fall of 2001. Mrs. Subie is the proud mother of Bryce and Daisy.
Miss Hillary Raemer

Miss Hillary grew up in Salt Lake City and spent a few years living in Park City. She attended the University of Utah and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Miss Hillary completed her Montessori training in the San Francisco Bay area in 2001 and has since been teaching Early Childhood Montessori Education. Miss Hillary worked at Soaring Wings Montessori School for two and half years where she completed her practicum training. From there, she ventured to New York to continue teaching children in Montessori education at Thevenet Montessori School for two consecutive years. In 2004, Miss Hillary began working for Hudson Country Montessori School before returning to her home in Utah to be with her family and friends. We are all fortunate to have Miss Hillary at Little Miners as a Head and Supervising teacher in classroom #1.
Mrs. Danielle Barragan 
AM/PM Assistant Teacher Classroom #2
Mrs. Danielle grew up in Orange County, California. She eventually moved to Las Vegas and graduated from the University of Las Vegas Nevada with a degree in Criminal Justice. Mrs. Danielle lived in Boulder, Colorado for five years where she enjoyed the mountains for a while. She moved back to Las Vegas and was involved in the medical field where she assisted providers and participants with medical claims and personal health information. Mrs. Danielle recently moved to Park City and decided to pursue a career working with children. Little Miners welcomes back her patient, happy, and caring personality to our team of teachers.
Miss Stacy Schmidt

AM/PM Head Teacher Classroom #2
Miss Stacy graduated from Southern Oregon University with a degree in Environmental Studies-Geography. She also graduated from Central Oregon Community College with an Associates of Arts degree. Miss Stacy has extensive experience working with children in many different environments including, snowboarding, after school programs and at the YMCA as a preschool assistant. Her interest in Montessori education began when she accepted a voluntary position at a Montessori program in Ashland, Oregon. Miss Stacy attended the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies and completed her practicum at Little Miners Montessori. We welcome Miss Stacy back to our Montessori community for another exciting year and are happy to have her as Head teacher in Classroom 2.
Mrs. Melissa Smith

AM/PM Head Teacher Classroom #3
Miss Melissa grew up in Northern Michigan and attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 1998 with a BA degree in the History of Art. She then moved West to the Lake Tahoe area where she was a children's ski instructor and director of a day care program at Squaw Valley. Miss Melissa moved to Park City in 2003 and obtained a Masters degree in Elementary Education and her Montessori credential. Miss Melissa shows a genuine interest in the Montessori Method and we are thrilled to have her as a strong part of Little Miners.
Miss Sarah Banister 
AM/PM Assistant Teacher Classroom #3
Miss Sarah grew up in Stonington, Connecticut surrounded by a family of teachers. She went to highschool at The Taft School and and completed her undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology from Bowdoin College. While in college Miss Sarah was named to the All-American Field Hockey and Lacrosse teams. After college Miss Sarah worked in the Outdoor Education field and worked for a program for at-risk high school students in Boston. For the past 6 years, Miss Sarah has been traveling to Nepal to work with the dZi Foundation, an INGO that works to better the lives of poor, rural communities in Nepal. Miss Sarah has a great love for people and the outdoors and we welcome back her peaceful, loving demeanor to Little Miners.
Miss Ali Clark
Art Teacher
Miss Ali was born and raised in Salt Lake City. As a child she spent summers in Maryland and loved the East Coast so much she decided to pursue her education at the University of Delaware where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Miss Ali's background as an artist and her interest in working with children led her to the field of art therapy. In 2006 Miss Ali received a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. While working at a Montessori school in Chicago Miss Ali discovered the synchronicity of the Montessori method and her style of practicing art therapy. Miss Ali recently moved back to Utah to be closer to her family and we are thrilled to have such a talented individual leading our art program!
Mrs. Jackie Vail 
Music and Movement Teacher
Miss Jackie was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from Miami University in Ohio in 1995. Shortly after graduation, her love of the mountains and the outdoors brought her to Park City, Utah. She joined the staff at Little Miners in January 2006 and is very happy to be the music and movement teacher. Other than children, Miss Jackie enjoys gardening, walking her dog, and traveling. Little Miners welcomes back Miss Jackie’s enthusiasm for children and the great outdoors. Mrs. Jackie recently had a baby boy named Kenneth Jackson.
Miss Ashley Currier
Classroom #1 Assistant Teacher-in-Training
Miss Ashley is from Rye, New Hampshire. She graduated from St. Lawrence Univeristy in May of 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Education. During college Miss Ashley interned at the Headstart in Canton, New York and discovered her love for working with chidren. After graduation Miss Ashley followed her passion for skiing to the snowy mountains of Utah, where she has ski instructed and nannied since September of 2007. While nannying, Miss Ashley was introduced to Mrs. Subie and Little Miners where she is now fullfilling her dream of working with children and learning the Montessori method. Miss Ashley is a wonderful addition to the Little Miners community!
Mrs. Vanessa Battaini
Office Administrator 
Miss Vanessa grew up in Vermont then moved West to attended Prescott College in Prescott Arizona where she received her BA in Sociological Studies. Miss Vanessa worked in a variety of therapeutic settings while living in Arizona, including a homeless shelter for children and adolescents. She moved to the Park City area 6 years ago to return to the mountains and to experience her husband's hometown. Most recently, Miss Vanessa worked with high school students in the Admissions Department at the Oakley School and has been involved with Arts-Kids within the Summit County School District. Miss Vanessa will be working full-time in the front office, ensuring the smooth and organized innerworkings of Little Miners Montessori. We are honored to have such a qualified and energetic individual at LMM.
Mrs. Jill Johnson-Brown
Office Assistant and Mother of Nils Oscar Brown
Miss Jill was born and raised in Park City, Utah. Along with Mrs. Subie, she chased her Olympic dreams bumping and jumping down the mogul fields with the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team. Off the ski slopes, Miss Jill pursued her education at the University of Utah receiving a B.S. in Communications and a B.S. in Women’s Studies. Upon finishing she embarked on an around the world adventure for six months. When she returned she worked for a resort design firm as Director of Marketing and Business Development. Eventually, Miss Jill left the ski industry and corporate life to pursue her Masters of Arts in Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After five years in Chi-town she returned to the mountains with her husband and young son. Thus, Miss Jill is focused on raising her little guy. She is working in the office writing our monthly newsletter and calendar, as well as any other administrative projects. Come see her and Nils on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
